Tonight

I lay exhausted
Emotionally and physically wasted

My eyes are dry, my lips chapped
My muscles depleted of any strength
Yet this feeling still strives
The dream of you still lies in my heart

I will never let you go
Every night I close my eyes knowing that
I will be with you; though for only moments
Day comes, the serenity you radiate wanes as the moon does during sunrise

So now after a long day my strength has waned away. Every feeling of exhaustion amasses
Into a mighty star on the horizon
Falling behind the mountains

I surrender to the dark.

For no matter how dark the night;
I know you will find me following
These glorious sunsets.

I lay here, exhausted, my emotions and muscles
Ache with remnants of the strain of the day.
